Overview.

Sway Ventures is looking to hire a full-time intern to join us in our San Francisco or San Diego office during the summer. This is a unique opportunity to join a high performing team and gain experience within venture capital by supporting our efforts via research and analysis of the following fields:

  • Transportation & Logistics
  • Financial Services
  • Retail & Brands
  • Real Estate
  • Healthcare
  • AI and Machine Learning

Candidates will be tasked with profiling the market for next generation technologies, potentially building them, and prioritizing our investment attention towards those technologies and/or companies that have the greatest opportunity. Specifically, candidates are expected to provide:

  • Landscape of early to medium growth break out companies in each vertical
  • Early thought leader profiling and connections from universities, start ups or large fortune 1000 technology leaders
  • Profiling of leading edge technologies and how they are used in each vertical
  • Prioritization of recommended interest based on technical advantages
  • Collection and compilation of key information in a CRM
  • Technical and business review of a potential investment for the firm
  • Help solving a strategy or technical problem in one of our portfolio companies that range from Uber, to Fetch Robotics, to Measurabl

Qualifications

Our preferred educational profile is as follows:

  • Currently pursuing a BS degree in Management Science, Computer Science or
  • Engineering with at least a GPA of 3.5 in at least your junior year of studies, OR,
  • Possess a BS/BA degree in Management Science, Computer Science or Engineering, and currently pursuing a Master’s or PhD degree in a related discipline with at least a GPA of 3.5.
  • You may not want a career as a software programmer, but the ability to code or to understand code is highly desirable.

Familiar with Underlying Technologies

  • Organized and Self Directed
  • Demonstrable experience in self-directed research, information compilation and organization, and key attribute recognition and prioritization
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate on an interdisciplinary team members to solve problems
  • Self-starter with a positive attitude, intellectual curiosity and a passion for analytics
